LiFi.co Transforms How We Connect With the Internet By Using Light-Based Data Transmission

Lifi Goes Beyond Traditional Wifi With Unparalleled Security And Speed

TL; DR: LiFi.co offers an alternative to traditional wifi with its Light Fidelity, also known as LiFi, technology. LiFi uses infrared waves via LED light bulbs to transmit data between devices, providing users with fast and secure internet access. Its products help future-proof wireless communication and can be used alongside wifi as an enhancer. We spoke with Jeroen van Gils, Owner of LiFi.co, about the revolutionary technology, its platform, and its unparalleled benefits.

In 1997, wifi emerged as a wireless connector to broadband internet. It didn’t change the world right away. But as the internet grew in use, it became inseparable from the success of the web. After all, we can’t think about the internet without wifi. It’s like PB and J. Wifi allows us to access the internet without being wired to one location or using cellular networks.

Although ethernet cables and other wired connections are still in use, wifi surpassed them in popularity because of its convenience and portability. It revolutionized how we connect online. You would think wifi has already asserted a permanent dominance over other data transmission systems, and maybe it has. But in an ever-evolving tech landscape, permanence isn’t always a guarantee.

Just as wifi did years before, another wireless communication technology is on the rise. This new player in the digital communications arena is called Light Fidelity, or LiFi. And LiFi.co, one of its many providers, seeks to transform how we interact with the internet with light-based technology. Unlike wifi, LiFi doesn’t use radio frequency to transmit data. Instead, it uses infrared.

“LiFi’s potential for high-density data transmission, coupled with its inherent security – since light does not penetrate walls – heralds a transformative era for internet and data exchange, emphasizing speed, security, and reliability,” said Jeroen van Gils, Owner of LiFi.co.

The LiFi.co platform offers a host of products that use LED light bulbs to transmit information and internet signals between devices. Users can choose any of its products to set up LiFi in their homes or businesses. Its website also has a directory for LiFi providers to help users set up LiFi systems where they are.

How LiFi Rivals Traditional WiFi

Harald Haas introduced the concept of LiFi to the world in 2011. Since then, LiFi has positioned itself as a future-proof alternative or enhancer to wifi technology. And that’s all because of its robust Visible Light Communications (VLC) system.

“Our VLC system, utilizing infrared (IR) for data transmission, sidesteps traditional Wi-Fi’s radio frequencies for a more secure, faster connection,” said Jeroen.

The VLC system converts the light spectrum, or LED light bulbs, into a medium for high-speed data transmission. Jeroen said the LiFi technology enhances bandwidth and communication efficiency without the constraints associated with visible light. It can also overcome some challenges that come with traditional wifi.

“This method significantly improves internet connectivity, offering a robust solution for crowded urban settings, sensitive installations, and areas where RF communications are impractical,” said Jeroen.

Wifi uses radio technology and electromagnetic waves to power its system. But light waves rival radio waves in several key areas, including speed, availability, security, and efficiency. LiFi does away with the risks of electromagnetic fields. It also reduces the likelihood of your information leaking, as light waves can’t be intercepted like radio waves can.

Light waves can carry more information than radio waves, also giving it a leg up in the speed department. Low latency is a top demand today. So LiFi can play a major role in helping provide that. Jeroen said users push for ultra-fast internet because they love to do things online in real time, and it has become a necessity in our digital era.

“As our homes get smarter and cars start to drive themselves, quick, reliable internet becomes a must, not a luxury. This tells us that we’re moving toward a world where being instantly connected isn’t just preferred; it’s essential for keeping up with the digital age,” said Jeroen.

Game-Changing Technology for Families and Businesses

LiFi doesn’t seek to replace traditional wifi but be a complementary piece. It can help wifi meet demand and future-proof wireless data transmission for years to come. LiFi powers the digital tomorrow with secure, efficient, and robust wireless connections.

Now we use internet connectivity for almost everything, including gaming, work, driving, and entertainment. So it’s no surprise demand will increase for wireless networks. LiFi.co recently released a new product called LiFiMAX Compact to help users meet their wireless needs.

“The LiFiMAX Compact is truly a game changer for home internet use, blending speed and security with the simplicity of light. This device is super easy to set up and can handle up to 16 users at once, making it perfect for families, gamers, and anyone working from home,” said Jeroen.

LiFi recently launched LiFiMAX Compact, an affordable and powerful option for families.

LiFiMAX Compact offers excellent speed, security, and speed. It is also one of the most affordable and easy-to-use LiFi systems on the market. All users have to do is connect the access point with the integrated photonic antenna with their modem. Then, they can fix it to their ceiling, plug it into their device, and be good to go.

“What’s more, it’s designed with health in mind, being a great choice for those concerned about electromagnetic fields. It’s not just an internet connection; it’s a leap toward safer, faster, and more reliable online experiences for everyone at home,” said Jeroen.

LiFi.co is also in the process of launching another product in collaboration with another LiFi company. “We’re on the brink of launching a new product aimed at being the most cost-effective and efficient option for both home and office environments. Keep an eye on our website and social media for more details and the upcoming pre-sale announcement,” said Jeroen.

Working for the Planet and You

Another highlight of LiFi.co is its eco-friendliness. Not only is it a sustainable product choice, but the company also partakes in eco-friendly initiatives. Jeroen told us LiFi.co is committed to embodying sustainability in every aspect of its business.

“Alongside leveraging technology that minimizes environmental impact, we actively participate in initiatives aimed at giving back to the planet, like tree planting and ocean plastic cleanup,” said Jeroen.

This approach reflects the company’s dedication to conservation and highlights the importance for tech companies to adopt sustainable practices. “As technology evolves and consumption of natural resources increases, it’s imperative for the industry to prioritize eco-conscious development to ensure a healthier planet for future generations,” said Jeroen.

As for future plans, LiFi.co seeks to dive deeper into integrating IoT and AI with its LiFi technology. The team has a vision for its technology to help offices and smart homes connect more seamlessly and respond more intelligently to user needs.

“This convergence is set to redefine the boundaries of digital communication, making our interactions with the digital world more intuitive and efficient. I’m genuinely thrilled about the possibilities this opens up for us all in navigating the future of internet speeds and smart, connected environments,” said Jeroen.
