13 Best NVMe Web Hosting Providers (Feb. 2024)

Best Nvme Web Hosting

My mother read Aesop’s Fables to me before bed when I was a child. “The Tortoise and the Hare” was my favorite (well, it still is) and has been translated into numerous languages. It teaches us an important life lesson: Slow and steady wins the race. Unfortunately, slow and steady are not a winning combination in web hosting.

Speed is the real king in our world, and leading the charge is non-volatile memory express (NVMe) technology. I mean, it’s got express in its name! According to research, the average consumer attention span is a paltry eight seconds. This means that your website must load and catch the eye of a potential customer within this period. Hares, er, I mean NVMe technology, are built for speed.

NVMe solid-state drives (SSDs) are much faster than serial advanced technology attachment (SATA) SSDs and old-school hard disk drives (HDDs), making them the best option for your hosting storage needs. Some web hosts include NVMe SSDs in their base-level plans, while others include them in higher-priced ones. Your search for the best NVMe web hosting provider ends now. Put your foot on the accelerator and read on!

Best Cheap NVMe Web Hosting

While a shared hosting plan is far from king-sized, one equipped with NVMe SSDs rules over others with SATA SSDs. When choosing a shared web hosting plan, affordability and performance come to mind. The below web hosts are both cheap and blazing-fast, thanks in part to the NVMe SSD storage included in their shared hosting plans.

Our first pick for cheap NVMe SSD hosting (and one of the worthiest), Kamatera dominates the cloud hosting playing field. While it does not offer shared hosting plans, its high-performance cloud servers can be configured to meet the needs of beginners and enterprises alike.

Each cloud server is enabled with Ice Lake processors, flexible NVMe storage space, global datacenter options, and numerous operating system (OS) options, including Linux and Windows, all at an affordable monthly starting price.

You can also take advantage of Kamatera’s pre-configured apps and services, like cPanel, Plesk, MySQL, MongoDB, Kubernetes, Docker, NGINX, WordPress, and Joomla! What I like most about Kamatera’s cloud servers is that you can start small and easily scale at the click of a button. And, of course, like most credible web hosts, Kamatera offers a free SSL certificate.

Hostinger: Our Expert’s Review

Laura Bernheim (HostingAdvice.com): As the shared hosting market becomes increasingly saturated, unlimited storage, bandwidth, and email accounts have become surprisingly average. Hostinger, however, extends the routine, expected metrics to greater lengths — the number of websites, databases, FTP users, subdomains, and parked domains are all unrestricted for most customers. ScalaHosting is another popular cloud-based hosting provider, and it delivers high speed, instant scalability and phenomenal security. If you rely on customer reviews for purchase decisions, you will be pleased to hear that TrustPilot rates the hosting solution a perfect 5.0/5.0.

If your credit card isn’t in your hand already, wait till you learn about ScalaHosting’s shared hosting plans! It is the first web host on our list that offers NVMe SSD storage in each of its plans. The Mini plan doesn’t offer the greatest value for money, though, so we recommend the Start plan at a minimum.

This plan includes sufficient storage space, daily offsite backups, real-time malware protection, best-in-class security, and unlimited websites, bandwidth, emails, and databases. If you have a slightly higher budget, the Entry Cloud plan offers the highest speed and security and is truly magnificent.

NVMe SSDs and Turbo Server features make A2 Hosting’s shared hosting plans a treat for those seeking blazing-fast hosting at an affordable price. It offers four shared hosting plans, of which the TURBO and TURBO MAX plans offer NVMe storage.

The TURBO plan is A2 Hosting’s cheapest shared plan with unlimited NVMe SSD storage. It also has Turbo features like LiteSpeed performance enhancement, cache optimizations, greater traffic capacity, and a quicker time to first byte (TTFB).

Other interesting features include unlimited websites, automatic backup snapshots, and datacenter locations in the USA, Europe, and Asia. You also get DDoS protection, a web hosting firewall, virus scanning, server hardening, 24/7 secure monitoring, and dedicated Guru Crew customer support.

Whenever I talk about AccuWebHosting, accuracy comes to mind. AccuWebHosting’s industry-leading web hosting plans deliver features that accurately meet the needs of all kinds of customers. Its shared hosting plans, in particular, include more features than any of its competitors.

While not advertised, each plan includes NVMe SSDs and a whole host of scintillating features, like optimized storage, complete redundancy, unlimited domains, a CloudLinux OS, cPanel, free daily backups, multiple website builder templates, a server firewall, and security patching.

I can confidently say that AccuWebHosting’s entry-level Basic ++ plan can beat any other entry-level shared hosting plan. The Enterprise Pro ++ plan is also budget-friendly and ideal for websites with high traffic demands.

6. Ultahost

Ultahost may just be the ultimate shared web hosting service for people seeking the NVMe SSD hosting experience. The new-age web host offers rapid page load speeds, unlimited bandwidth, DDoS protection, a cPanel license, and a near-perfect uptime guarantee of 99.99% with its shared hosting plans.

These plans are cheap, easy to manage, include built-in security updates, and offer 24/7 customer support. If you need decent storage space, the SHARED BASIC plan is worth looking at. It packages excellent features suitable for a small business.

While the SHARED BUSINESS and SHARED PRO plans cost more, they include enhanced security, speed, performance, and power. Additionally, with datacenters in North America, Europe, and Asia, Ultahost’s server network is large, ensuring service reliability.

7. Verpex

If you could shop for a shared web hosting plan at Five Below, Verpex would be a top seller. Alongside IONOS, Verpex offers some of the cheapest shared hosting plans we have come across, and unlike IONOS, Verpex provides NVMe drive space with its plans (this is not a swipe at the much-loved IONOS!).

Verpex Logo
Verpex provides ample NVMe disk space with plans priced below $5.

Two out of three of its monthly plans cost less than a dollar, and they sure do pack a punch. The Bronze plan, for example, includes unmetered bandwidth, NVMe disk space, daily backups, LiteSpeed Web Server, cPanel, unlimited email accounts, developer support, and malware protection.

Its highest-priced plan, the Gold plan, is extremely affordable as well and promises super-quick page loading times and no downtime. An added perk is that Verpex is a cloud hosting provider, meaning you can scale with ease.

Best NVMe WordPress Hosting

WordPress is the world’s mightiest content management system (CMS), fueling the operation of more than 40% of all websites worldwide. This means that approximately two out of every five websites are built on WordPress — the competition is real. To stand out, NVMe storage is one of the features you must seek in your WordPress hosting plan.

Hostinger: Our Expert’s Review

Laura Bernheim (HostingAdvice.com): As much as we love WordPress, one of our biggest pet peeves is when hosting providers exploit the popularity of the world’s most-used content management system by offering so-called WordPress hosting that, in reality, is exactly the same as the host’s shared server plans. Fortunately, Hostinger’s ultra-fast infrastructure and easy access to SSL certificates and backups sets up the company to outperform the vast majority of the violators of our admittedly made-up rule. Such is Hostinger’s hosting prowess that it appears in both of our NVMe web hosting categories (shared and WordPress hosting). Hostinger’s fast and fully managed WordPress plans ensure a smooth WordPress hosting experience.

Rated favorably by stalwarts like Google and Trustpilot, Hostinger offers three managed WordPress hosting plans. The Business plan, which is well received by customers, includes numerous websites, astonishing performance, ample NVMe SSD drive space, unlimited bandwidth, CDN, and most of the other features we explored with Hostinger’s shared hosting plans.

What makes this plan stand out for WordPress hosting is the sheer number of top-class managed WordPress features covering each aspect of the WordPress hosting lifecycle. More than two million WordPress website owners trust Hostinger, so what are you waiting for? Jump on the bandwagon!

InMotion Hosting is one of the more interesting WordPress hosts, offering WordPress on cPanel and Platform InMotion (not to mention WooCommerce hosting). Platform InMotion is the custom control panel of InMotion Hosting.

While its WordPress plans on Platform InMotion are excellent in their own right, they cost much more than the cPanel hosting plans and are based on purpose-built cloud servers. The cPanel plans are based on optimized shared servers and offer good value for money (making them the better overall option).

We recommend the WP Launch plan, which includes unlimited NVMe SSD storage space, ultra-fast WordPress performance, and unlimited bandwidth and email addresses. You’ll also get an amazing set of security and marketing tools, advanced caching, numerous datacenter locations, and live chat support.

ScalaHosting: Our Expert’s Review

Laura Bernheim (HostingAdvice.com): A WordPress hosting service typically falls in one of two camps: a specially tailored plan optimized specifically for the world’s most popular content management system, or essentially a repackaged version of the company’s standard shared hosting offering. ScalaHosting bridges the gap by offering shared hosting simplicity and a platform inherently optimized for the speed and security WordPress users need to be successful. Go to full review »

ScalaHosting is a top-rated managed WordPress hosting provider. While it is not my first option for WordPress hosting, it is certainly worth considering due to its affordability and overall feature set. The WP Mini plan offers minimal NVMe storage space and should not be considered if your storage needs are substantial.

The WP Start plan is above average, offering shared hosting performance coupled with managed WordPress features. To enjoy the best of ScalaHosting’s managed WordPress capabilities, we recommend the (expensive) Entry Cloud plan.

It includes guaranteed processor and memory resources, the highest grade of security, upgradeable NVMe storage, one-click WordPress installation, a dedicated IP address, OpenLiteSpeed caching, and blacklist monitoring. If you come across any issues, contact ScalaHosting support. They are among the friendliest bunch of tech people we have talked to!

13. Ultahost

Don’t worry; I won’t make another “ultimate” pun. Ultahost does offer some pretty amazing managed WordPress hosting plans, though. These LiteSpeed-based plans were built to maximize performance and speed, and the web host claims that they are 5x faster than its competitors.

Ultahost Logo
Ultahost’s WordPress plans provide a variety of platform-specific features.

The WORDPRESS STARTER plan offers all the tools you need to build and manage a successful WordPress website, including sufficient NVMe SSD storage, a WordPress manager, WordPress acceleration, a WordPress staging tool, WP-CLI, unlimited databases, and email capabilities.

Other features included in all plans are BitNinja Security, free backups, dedicated firewalls, optimized caching, real-time monitoring, regular security patching, and a CDN add-on (which we recommend).

What Is NVMe Web Hosting?

Let’s start by understanding what NVMe technology really is. NVMe is a high-speed storage protocol that uses the PCI Express (PCIe) technical standard to access non-volatile storage (like SSDs), delivering a low-latency and high-bandwidth user experience. Time is money in today’s economy, where every microsecond counts, and NVMe storage saves a lot of time (and thereby money).

Using NVMe technology for web hosting substantially improves your website’s speed and performance and enhances its data safety and storage capacity. If you have begun searching for a suitable hosting plan, you may have come across dedicated server hosting plans that offer a choice of HDDs, SATA SSDs (denoted simply as “SSD Storage”), and NVMe SSDs for storage needs.

The purpose of NVMe drives for speed.
NVMe’s makeup allows higher speeds than other SSDs.

Apart from dedicated hosting, hosting categories like shared hosting, virtual private server hosting (VPS hosting), cloud hosting, WordPress hosting, and reseller hosting typically do not offer HDDs for storage. Hosting plans with NVMe SSDs are the cream of the crop, and if you have a substantial hosting budget, NVMe web hosting is the only way to go (NVMe VPS hosting, in particular, is excellent).

NVMe vs. SATA: What’s the Difference?

Before NVMe technology hit the market, SATA technology was the best thing available. SATA SSDs use the Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) technical standard to access non-volatile storage and are comparatively much slower than NVMe SSDs. To put it into perspective, SATA technology hit a brick wall with SATA III, delivering a maximum throughput of a mere 600 Mbps.

While some developers bypassed the performance limitations of SATA SSDs by plugging them straight into PCIe slots, this wasn’t a long-term solution. NVMe technology was the need of the hour. PCIe 4 and PCIe 5 NVMe SSDs offer a maximum throughput of approximately 12,000 Mbps, which is around 20 times faster than SATA III technology.

NVMe hosting pros
NVMe storage enhances website performance.

While real-world performance may indicate otherwise (around 2,000 Mbps), NVMe SSDs are hands down the best solution for web hosting. NVMe drives are smaller and simpler than SATA drives, do not require extra cabling (as they can be plugged straight into a motherboard slot), and use much less power. The only downside is that an NVMe hosting plan is more expensive than a SATA-based one.

Is NVMe Better than SATA for a Website?

Yes, NVMe SSDs are better than SATA SSDs for a website, offering greater performance, faster webpage loading speeds (lower latency), and more energy efficiency. NVMe SSDs should be the preferred storage hosting choice for enterprises. Just like any other technology, NVMe SSDs have their fair share of pros and cons.

Pros and cons of NVMe SSDs:

ProsCons
NVMe SSDs are up to 20 times faster than SATA SSDs (providing more bandwidth and lesser latency).Unfortunately, due to their high-speed nature, NVMe drives may suffer from overheating issues.
They consume less power.NVMe drives are more expensive than SSD drives as well.
They have a longer lifespan. It is also worth noting that they may not be a significant upgrade over SSD drives for basic computing tasks.

If you run a low-traffic blog or small to midsize business (or have a limited budget), a web hosting plan with SATA SSDs may be more than enough for your website. You can always upgrade your hosting plan down the line, so assess your hosting budget and business necessities and choose a plan accordingly.

Is NVMe Storage Worth It?

NVMe storage is worth each cent spent (rhyme intended). While it is more expensive than SATA storage, it offers several advantages that have been listed above. If you have the budget to purchase an NVMe hosting plan, we recommend it. To help you understand the cost difference between a SATA SSD hosting plan and an NVMe SSD hosting plan, let’s take the example of A2 Hosting (my favorite web host for speed).

A2 Hosting’s shared hosting plans are not only cheap but also super-fast. The STARTUP plan offers substantial SATA SSD storage and costs less than $3 monthly (we are exploring A2 Hosting’s one-year plan durations). The DRIVE plan includes unlimited SATA SSD storage and is more than twice as expensive. The TURBO BOOST plan offers unlimited NVMe SSD storage for just a dollar more (per month) and numerous Turbo Server features.

Unlimited storage is a boon and many customers will opt for A2 Hosting’s DRIVE plan as a result. But why not purchase the TURBO BOOST plan instead? It offers the advantages of NVMe storage and the web host’s Turbo Server technology for just one dollar more each month. Other web hosts offer similar pricing plans. While some may be more expensive, it is a universal truth that NVMe hosting plans are better than others.

Choosing the Best NVMe Web Hosting Provider

As you may have guessed, A2 Hosting is the best NVMe hosting provider in my books. Its affordable shared hosting plans offer ample SATA and NVMe storage space (three out of four plans offer unlimited storage space) and are backed by superb website performance optimization features.

Kamatera and Hostinger are worth mentioning in the same breath, as they are truly remarkable web hosts (rated 4.8/5.0 by our in-house experts). A2 Hosting and Hostinger are two fan favorites for being the most versatile web hosting companies for NVMe hosting.

All said and done, if your budget does not allow for an NVMe hosting plan, do not feel like you are missing out. In this case, you probably need a hosting plan for basic computational tasks, and NVMe storage is not a necessity. SATA SSDs are far better than a tortoise, so hold your head up high and enjoy the perks of SATA SSD hosting!
