After the download, the server typically clears the downloaded emails. That said, I’ve seen some newer clients allow users to leave a copy of the emails on the server.
I usually use POP3 when I need to access my emails only from a single device because this option is more storage-friendly, given that it stores emails locally, freeing up server space.
Then there’s the other option. IMAP, also known as Internet Message Access Protocol. This is actually the most popular and convenient email protocol because it stores emails on the email server and synchronizes changes across multiple devices. As a result, anything you do with your emails — whether you read, delete, or transfer them — will reflect across all other devices connected to the same email account.
