GreenCloudVPS Delivers Specialized Hosting to Reduce Costs and Improve Efficiency for SMBs

Greencloudvps Supports Specialized Vps Use Cases

TL; DR: Most VPS providers issue stock configurations that address the most common use cases. However, GreenCloudVPS specializes in custom VPS solutions that meet a variety of niche needs, including Windows and Linux options with non-standard configurations and variants for Mac, Forex, and Jarvee. A cluster of the company’s interconnected virtual private servers can streamline costs and reduce IT complexity. GreenCloudVPS continues to improve its services, and its next upgrade involves migration to the OpenStack platform.

In 2012, a development team sought a virtual private server (VPS) solution for specific applications, including moderate RAM and disk space and high CPU capability. In those early days, the VPS market hadn’t solidified for SMBs and individuals, so most offerings tended to be commodity servers on the low end of feature sets.

The team’s search came up empty, so to solve the problem, team members launched GreenCloudVPS in 2013.

“We realized that the market supply was poor,” said Hao Do, Sales Manager for GreenCloudVPS. “Very few providers had such services on offer. That’s what kicked off our idea to establish a service platform that best serves this market segment.”

GreenCloudVPS launched to bring robust VPS features to small businesses.

The company started with a small customer pool that grew as the platform matured. Its growth mirrored a trend in cloud computing: Hardware specifications and network throughput improved for VPS providers at a much faster rate than they did for desktop PCs.

Increasing adoption of high-speed internet services made the relative tradeoffs of hosted VPS solutions increasingly favorable to small and medium-sized businesses.

“Customers now enjoy a VPS equipped with NVMe SSDs, which is a hundred times faster than the classic SATA HD, and with a port speed of 10Gbps instead of barely 100Mbps several years ago,” Hao said. “With the continuous development in the technology industry, customers now enjoy the advantages of state-of-the-art technical resources at much lower prices.”

GreenCloudVPS offers those resources, differentiating its product portfolio from its competitors by emphasizing niche solutions that are difficult to implement with blank-slate or general-purpose providers.

Supporting Complex Computing Use Cases with VPS Solutions

High-end VPS solutions significantly outperform local user machines. For example, a Linux-based VPS optimized for data science and provisioned with adequate memory and a high-end processor will considerably speed up complicated number-crunching — especially statistics and data-mining work. Establishing even a few provisioned VPS nodes will significantly reduce analytics bottlenecks for applications, including R, a statistics suite that performs work in local memory.

Even a company that uses Microsoft Windows may still see some need for mission-critical applications that run on Linux or macOS. For example, Linux powers most of the web, so a company’s server will likely run a content management system, including WordPress, that sits atop a LAMP stack — Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP.

Many powerful open-source SMB applications rely on browser interfaces and require a LAMP server for optimal performance. Similarly, the Adobe Creative Cloud suite works on Mac or Windows. A VPS running Mac virtual desktop may host a single CC installation while remaining available for use by many employees.

GreenCloudVPS makes a variety of powerful features available for niche use cases.

For simple desktops, a budget VPS-based virtual-desktop solution equals or exceeds local hardware capability but proves easier to manage remotely. Running virtual desktops in a browser window or an Electron wrapper enhances the reach of a low-end PC while improving data security. For example, a company could issue budget laptops connected to a virtual desktop. That strategy provides significant computing resources and networked file systems that don’t leave files on the hardware.

GreenCloudVPS supports many platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Forex, and Jarvee, and all servers are connected by proxy. That means a company could stand up several different servers running different operating systems, but each server communicates with the others through the host’s internal networking protocols.

“GreenCloudVPS aims to be a one-stop shop for clients interested in a VPS with Windows OS that may need proxies to run their software and, additionally, they might need a VPS with Linux OS to host their websites,” Hao said. “On top of that, we also have specialized products such as Forex VPS for running automated Forex/trading software and macOs for people working with XCode or other software compatible with Mac, without having to own a Mac.”

A Strategy That Promotes Financial and Operational Efficiencies

The business case for VPS solutions changes as server- and desktop-class hardware improves. Broadband service expansion, especially on mobile devices and among home users, has largely erased the early performance penalty of servers with limited bandwidth communicating with each other. Modern cloud-computing strategies, including reliance on VPS, have three primary considerations.

First is the potential for savings in time and labor. A VPS, if properly provisioned and managed, frees hardware and server administration time on the client side. Reducing or eliminating the need for local management of physical servers reduces the load on small business IT teams. Most providers follow best networking practices, so a VPS is less likely to be compromised at an infrastructure level through distributed denial-of-service attacks or oversights in penetration protection. VPS customers also enjoy enterprise-grade security without the premium price tag.

A worldwide datacenter footprint allows GreenCloudVPS to deliver operational efficiencies to global businesses.

Another consideration is the improvement in server performance and uptime rate because most VPS providers rely on server farms outside the cost and scope of a typical small business. It’s also not unusual to see the VPS platform provider feature uptime above 99.99%.

And the third consideration is realizing favorable returns on investment and reductions in total costs of ownership. Although there’s a marginal risk from not owning the hardware upon which a company’s data resides, economies of scale suggest that outsourcing to cloud providers is the best long-term investment. That investment is often easy to predict, simplifying ROI calculations further for entrepreneurs.

“We aim for a balance between operational costs and strong, stable performance,” Hao said. “That approach highlights our competitive advantage as well as the long-term value and returns we provide to our clients.”

GreenCloudVPS: Effective Cloud Servers at Affordable Prices

The early days of the VPS market delivered generalized solutions for straightforward business use cases and led to the launch of GreenCloudVPS. As the market matured, advances in technology changed the value proposition for VPS services. Better hardware and more efficient networking led to a real value in outsourcing computing or storage to the cloud.

That shifting ROI fueled an ecosystem where VPS providers could reduce costs, improve efficiency, enhance security, and streamline access to data. GreenCloudVPS offers niche tools that are far cheaper and more effective than building similar in-house solutions.

GreenCloudVPS, which specializes in alternative configurations optimized for specific business contexts, differentiates itself in a crowded market where a typical VPS becomes a commodity service. Forex servers and custom-configured Windows, Linux, and Mac servers fill various needs while retaining standards among each customer’s VPS pool.

Hao said she is excited about the next steps on the company’s road map.

“Well, 2020 was a challenging year for everyone due to the coronavirus pandemic, and some of our projects have been delayed,” she said. “However, we are finalizing Cloud VPS based on the OpenStack platform — a promising project that will deliver highly stable and efficient services to our customers at affordable costs.”

For many, 2020 was indeed a challenging year — but a reliable VPS partner can make a world of difference for a small business.
