16. 50% of U.S. Adults Are Concerned About AI’s Effect on Creativity and Relationships

Americans aren't very optimistic about AI and its effect on creativity and relationships. Half of them (53%) said that AI will worsen people's ability to think creatively6. Another 50% say it will make people worse at forming relationships with others. Far fewer said AI will make these things better.

They are more optimistic about using AI for data analysis, though: 74% are OK with it helping predict the weather and 66% playing a role in medicine.

17. 44% of Americans Have “A Lot” or “Some” Trust in Government's Ability to Regulate AI

Americans are pretty divided on whether or not they trust the U.S. to regulate AI effectively: 44% say they have “a lot” or “some” trust in the country to regulate AI use well, while 47% have “not too much” or “no trust at all”6.

However, this varies by political party: 54% of Republicans/Republican-leaning independents have “a lot” or “some” trust in the U.S. to regulate AI, compared with 36% of Democrats/Democratic-leaning independents.

18. 10% of Children Are Using Chatbots

AI is for kids, too! About 1 in 10 parents say their 5- to 12-year-old child uses AI chatbots6.

AI Chatbot Use Is Higher Among Older Children

Speaking of, the global data center consumption is on track to nearly double from 485 TWh in 2025 to 950 TWh in 2030. AI data centers are growing faster: their electricity usage is expected to triple over the same period7.

Global Data Center Electricity Use Could Nearly Double by 2030

21. Cooling Can Account for More Than 30% of a Data Center's Energy

In highly efficient facilities, like hyperscale data centers, cooling only accounts for about 7% of energy use. In less-efficient facilities, like enterprise data centers, cooling could account for more than 30% of usage7. Who would have thought that hyperscalers were not actually the worst for the environment?

22. Nearly 50% of U.S. Data Centers Were Built on Farmland or Forest

AI’s requirement for computing power is causing sprawling campuses to sprout up throughout the U.S. And it looks like a third — 33% — of U.S. data centers are built on farmland8.
