Providers Using Aws Mail Manager Just Got A New Security Add On

Cloud providers that use Amazon’s SES Mail Manager client now have a security add-on to offer customers, thanks to a new partnership between AWS and Hornetsecurity.

Hornetsecurity Group, a global cloud cybersecurity provider, has launched the Vade Advanced Email Security Add-On, which is now an integrated option within the Mail Manager.

This comes just a year after Vade, a French email cybersecurity company that analyzes more than 2.5 billion messages per day, joined the Hornetsecurity Group.

Vade offers an AI-powered solution that goes beyond checking signatures: It provides active monitoring against the most common email threats through learned behavioral analysis.

From spam and malware to phishing, Vade uses natural language processing to learn and understand normal behavior for each sender and receiver.

It is a far cry from traditional email security tools, which rely on known threat signatures that many cyberattackers have long moved past, such as blocking threats only after they’re recognized.

Each day, cyberattackers are getting more clever. Bad bots are now able to imitate human-like interactions and browsing patterns, making signature-based detection tools almost moot.

For example, phishing emails by bots are written in ways that resemble human writing style — even more sophisticated ones learn the style of their contacts to use familiar phrases and sentence structures.

Since modern threats can appear human-like, email security solutions have to move beyond merely identifying what emails look like and instead focus on how they behave.

The Vade add-on works within the AWS platform, so existing customers don’t need to add any third-party tools. Hornetsecurity CEO Daniel Hofmann added:

“We are thrilled that Amazon has chosen to partner with Hornetsecurity Group to provide their SES Mail Manager customers with a seamless and powerful email security solution within the AWS environment.”

An Upsell Opportunity for Providers

Although the Vade add-on is primarily designed for large organizations managing email campaigns and mass communications, hosting providers can also tap into its benefits.

As an intelligent, self-learning extension to the existing Mail Manager platform, Vade integrates seamlessly within the AWS ecosystem, so it’s easy for providers to market it as a premium offering.

It’s especially ideal for providers that work with sensitive industries like finance and healthcare.

Vade works alongside the email client’s existing features, which include:

  • Easy-to-use dashboard to manage email campaigns
  • Built-in tools to track performance and engagement
  • Templates to keep branding consistent
  • Automatic handling of bounces and contact lists
  • Scales easily for sending large volumes of email

The Mail Manager can be easily integrated into applications using SMTP or AWS SDKs/APIs, so it’s a developer-friendly tool, too.

As a final note, Hofmann said, “This will be a game-changer for the security of businesses that use Amazon SES for email transactions and marketing.”
