TL; DR: Netdirekt, headquartered in Turkey, serves up a wide selection of shared, virtual, and dedicated hosting solutions supported by renewable energy. The company is on a mission to provide uninterrupted service backed by top-notch customer care. Currently, the Netdirekt team is focused on helping customers adapt to change as the ongoing pandemic forces them to undergo digital transformations.
In the shadows of the hosting industry lurks a dark truth: The fossil fuels that power datacenters worldwide are directly responsible for harmful carbon dioxide emissions.
At the same time, sustainability concerns are playing an increasing role in consumer behavior. The majority (81%) of global participants in a 2018 Nielsen survey said it’s extremely or very important that companies help improve the environment. Other studies show that sustainability strongly impacts consumer preferences, with eight out of 10 consumers making sustainability-based purchasing decisions.
Hosting companies across the globe must do better — for the sake of the planet and the bottom line. We caught up with one company that is leading the charge in Turkey.
“We’re one of the first companies, if not the first, to support renewable energy in Turkey,” said Suat Görgün, Technical Support Specialist at Netdirekt. “We activated our first wind turbine back in 2015 and support green energy.”
The hosting company has worked to align its products and services with the needs of customers since its inception in 2009. In addition to providing green hosting, this means offering an extensive selection of shared, virtual, and dedicated server packages. Best yet, the Netdirekt Support team is available around the clock to provide assistance.
Uninterrupted Service via Datacenters in Turkey and Germany
Netdirekt was formed in May 2009 as the result of a merger between TeknoAS and Hostcini. Both well-respected companies brought years of experience and a customer-centric approach to the newly formed company.
“Netdirekt upholds one code above all, which is to deliver reliable, high-quality service to our customers,” Suat said. “Our motto is to provide uninterrupted, seamless, and excellent internet technologies and services to all of our customers. We call this kesintisiz kolaylık, which roughly translates to seamless convenience.”
The company currently operates out of three datacenters in Turkey (located in the cities of Izmir, Istanbul, and Ankara) and one in Frankfurt, Germany.
The Izmir datacenter is located in the Bornova – Işıkkent region, which is nearly 300 feet taller than the sky-high Izmir Center — and well protected from flooding as a result. The region is also known for its access to renewable energy.
Netdirekt’s main datacenter features N+1 redundancy to ensure reliable and consistent service. All cloud services come backed by a 99.99% network uptime guarantee. This guarantee is provided by Türk Telekom, Turkcell Superonline, and Cogent Communications internet access.
If Netdirekt is not actively working to improve the quality of its offerings, Suat said it’s likely the company is exploring how to do so in the future.
“It is probably strange to hear me say this, but competitiveness was never high on Netdirekt’s list of concerns,” he said. “Our first priority is to offer high-quality services, and the second is to constantly research how to do better.”
A Customer-Centric Approach to Product Development
In addition to hosting, Netdirekt offers a broad portfolio of solutions — from domain registry to content delivery network (CDN) services and broadcast streaming. The company also offers security services via SSH certificates and its attack prevention program, CubeShield. But underlying all of the company’s products and services is a firm commitment to customer support.
“What I am the most proud of is our support,” Suat said. “We do not want any of our customers to experience problems with their services — it is our utmost priority to ensure a high-quality experience — but if anything were to happen, our support staff would swiftly take action.”
The hosting industry is notorious for poor customer service and high customer churn rates. But that’s not a problem for Netdirekt. The company’s devotion to support keeps customers coming back.
“Working 24/7 means you can find us at the end of the phone, at the computer, whenever you need us, at any time. We’ll solve your problems immediately,” Suat said. “The fact that the services we offer are measurable and that we guide you through constantly changing technologies makes Netdirekt the apple of customers’ eyes in the business world.”
It’s no wonder Netdirekt receives many new customers via word-of-mouth — the best companies always do.
“When our customers refer us to their business partners and friends, this is the first thing they mention,” Suat said. “Of course, I am also quite proud we’re able to realize our goals and witness how happy our customers are with the service we’re providing.”
For customers who like to solve problems themselves, Netdirekt offers a vast knowledge base packed with helpful information and guides for getting started with various technologies. Other than support, Netdirekt prides itself on delivering seamless convenience, or kesintisiz kolaylık.
“Performance, uptime, and swift technical support can all be considered the number one benefit for customers who choose us. Our motto, kesintisiz kolaylık, reflects this clearly.”
To maintain a close relationship with clients, Netdirekt uses their feedback to test and improve upon new features.
“Our internal development process is built upon improvement,” Suat said. “We decide what to do, how it’s done, and how to do it better. Being a part of these brainstorming sessions is one of my favorite aspects of working here at Netdirekt. When finalizing an idea, if it’s related to a shared server type of service, we always test the feature on one pilot server and decide where to go based on customer feedback.”
Helping Customers Navigate Industry Change
COVID-19’s effect on the hosting industry is hardly a secret. When delivering a quarterly earnings report early in the pandemic, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella commented that customers had experienced two years of digital transformation in just two months. The many companies we’ve interviewed here at HostingAdvice also echoed this sentiment.
And now, there’s data to back up such claims. Executives surveyed in a recent McKinsey study, for example, indicated that the pandemic has accelerated digital transformation efforts at their businesses by an estimated three to four years.
The process can be intimidating, especially when done under pressure. That’s why Netdirekt has made special arrangements to help customers cope with these changes.
“Most of our major projects are temporarily suspended, and we have shifted our efforts to providing the best service we can to our growing customer base,” Suat told us. “I can proudly say we will continue to demonstrate and improve the quality standards that we at Netdirekt think our customers deserve — both now and in the future.”
That’s kesintisiz kolaylık in its truest form.
