Key Takeaways
Following the release of its AI assistant, Kodee, Hostinger launched Kodee MCP, a managed control panel that makes VPS hosting more accessible for novice or config-avoidant users.
Hostinger’s move reflects broader shifts in the hosting industry — toward AI-powered automation, accessibility, and user-centric innovation. It also signals a trend toward smarter infrastructure tools, so hosting providers that lag behind in AI integration risk losing ground to more innovative rivals.
Kodee MCP exists within Hostinger’s unmanaged VPS tiers, and is one of the first major moves yet by a mainstream, budget provider to close the gap between VPS hosting and usability.
It works with the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which essentially bridges AI models to systems like control panels. The main idea with MCPs is to reduce friction in day-to-day server management.

Wix also recently released its own MCP so its users can integrate their favorite LLMs, suggesting we may see more from other hosts.
The MCP lets users interact with Kodee through NLP chatting, during which users can type things like “scan for malware” without having to use Linux commands (which Hostinger’s VPS plans run on).
Kodee MCP supports over 200 server-side tasks, including routine maintenance and common troubleshooting like firewall management, snapshots, malware scans, and SSH fixes.
Each supported task in Kodee MCP is mapped to specific system-level actions. Riskier actions, like OS reinstalls, instead trigger guided workflows that will ask users to confirm each step.
“It’s like having your own system administrator on standby,” the announcement reads. “Whether you’re a seasoned developer or just starting out, simply chat in natural language – no jargon, no hassle.”
VPS Demand Is Rising
Traditionally, shared hosting long dominated the entry-level market for its low cost and simplicity. But as sites — especially eCommerce and HGBs — grow, shared hosting starts to show its limits.
VPS is the natural next step: Slightly higher in price, it delivers significantly improved performance. A study (using SiteGround) found that VPS hosting is 15-45% faster than shared.
The market shows this shift: Managed VPS hosting slowly outpaces self-managed VPS hosting at a 16.05% CAGR vs. about 15%.

And with VPS hosting set to more than double by 2033, the direction is clear: Users want more power, just without the hassle.
While some providers offer automation tools or chatbot support, Kodee MCP answers the call for greater accessibility by combining the power of AI assistance with VPS, which is typically sold unmanaged.
“Our vision is to make VPS self-management radically simpler for everyone,” Valentinas Čirba, Head of VPS at Hostinger, told TechRadar Pro. “With Kodee powered by MCP, users no longer need to learn complex commands — just chat naturally, and the AI takes care of the rest.”
Unlike competitors that bundle similar features with premium price tags, Kodee MCP is included in Hostinger’s base VPS plans, starting at $14/month, with no need for cPanel licenses, which cost $27-$66/month.
Does this mean AI-layered server management is the next baseline? Hostinger seems to think so.
