TL; DR: Think fast Linux, Windows, or VPS hosting always comes with a high price tag? It may be time to think again because of Value Hosted. As a web hosting provider that puts transparency first, the average price tag of Value Hosted’s web hosting plans hovers around $11 per month — which, let’s be honest, is hard to beat. We talked with Karim Rattani, Co-Founder and Operations Manager, about how Value Hosted aims to redefine what reliable hosting means without breaking the bank.
Call me an optimist, but sometimes I don’t buy into the “you get what you pay for” proverb. Don’t get me wrong: There are definitely some things in life where you need to equate price and quality — like being offered a free tattoo in your friend’s basement — but there are exceptions.
For example, you might find a used car for $10,000 less than its original price and still get many great years of being on the road. Or take my favorite coffee mug: It’s a decade-old dollar-store find that has outlasted the fancy, expensive one I was gifted a few years ago.
In my experience, the same principle applies to web hosting. You don’t always have to shell out the big bucks to get a service that’s reliable…you just have to know where to look.
Since you’re here, you don’t have to look any further because we’re going to talk about Value Hosted. As its name suggests, Value Hosted is an affordable web hosting provider — but what you may not know about it is that it is fast.
And no, it doesn’t just talk the talk: With 1 Gbps uplinks, RAID 10 SSD drives, and multiple premium bandwidth providers with data centers in New York and London, you really won’t have to worry about any downtime.
But instead of letting me tell you about it, we talked with Value Hosted’s Co-Founder and Operations Manager, Karim Rattani, who told us about how Value Hosted has grown in the past decade (and what’s next up its sleeve).
Big Performance, Small Price Tag
All good stories start with a bit of background. Value Hosted was founded in 2014 by Karim and his co-founder, Danyal Saleem, in their adopted hometown of Cartersville, Georgia.
This didn’t just come out of nowhere, of course. With a background in tech, Karim has been in the space for well over a decade. And when he’s not working on Value Hosted, he’s the lead developer for a Fortune 500 company.
So, if you ask me, it’s safe to say the Value Hosted team knows what it’s doing.
The company’s mission is to provide affordable and reliable hosting services while focusing on client needs. The proof is aplenty: For starters, its data center locations are in Buffalo, New York, and London — which Karim said was a strategic choice.
Both cities are close to major markets (one near the Toronto and New York City metro areas and the other in the heart of the European technological hub) and, therefore, offer a greater global reach, whether you’re in the U.S. or the UK.
“We’re focused on enhancing the user experience from the initial ordering process to website setup,” said Karim. “Our customizable hosting solutions are tailored to meet our clients’ specific needs and offer optimal value.”
But enough talk. Here’s Value Hosted in action:
- Web Hosting: From $2 to $20/mo, this SSD-powered web hosting lets you choose from cPanel, ASP.NET, WordPress, or reseller hosting options.
- VPS Hosting: From $13 to $59/mo, you can choose from U.S. or UK-based Linux or Windows hosting.
- Dedicated Servers: From $69.99 to $495/mo, you can choose from U.S. or UK-based dedicated servers.
- Domain Services: Whether you need to buy a domain or transfer it from another site, Value Hosted can help you compete with WHOIS protection, domain lock, and domain renewal options.
- Security Add-Ons: Get your add-ons, whether you need an SSL certificate, DDoS protection, backup services, or are interested in SiteLock®.
Plus, with each plan, you’ll get that speed I talked so much about.
That’s because Value Hosted only uses SSDs. SSDs, or solid-state drives, are a type of storage device that is a much-needed upgrade from traditional HDDs (hard disk drives). SSDs have much faster read/write speeds, are more compact, use flash memory instead of spinning platters, and use less energy.
SSDs are typically more expensive than HDDs, but with Value Hosted, all pricing is straightforward. There are no unnecessary add-ons; just choose your preferred hosting method, whether it’s by operating system (Linux and Windows) or specific tools (such as cPanel, WordPress, or ASP.NET).
Hosts With the Most
Karim shared with us that the Value Hosted team is “continually enhancing our network by adding new servers to these sites.” In other words, this means handling more traffic without slowing down, faster loading times, and better guaranteed uptime.
Value Hosted also recently added new server deployments for ASP.NET hosting. If you ask Karim, he may tell you it’s because of the growing demand for more robust infrastructure from consumers.
He’s not wrong, either.
Not only is the internet becoming more accessible to millions of people every year, but the developer space is growing fast, too. ASP.NET is a hosting environment from Microsoft that is extremely developer-friendly: I’m talking about things that just make their lives easier, like one-click application installations and easy deployment.
So Value Hosted’s new server deployments for ASP.NET hosting are just another way the company is meeting consumer demands.
“We are committed to continuously adding new functionality to our services, with a rigorous testing and validation process to ensure stability and performance,” he added.
Karim also mentioned new U.S. VPS services. If you’re new to HostingAdvice, then be sure to check out everything you need to know about VPS hosting here.
If you don’t have the time, then all you need to know is it’s a type of web hosting that uses virtual private servers to provide you with dedicated resources on a shared server with other users.
Since it’s like having your mini-server within a larger server, I like to equate it as the happy middle between shared and dedicated hosting.
“Our VPS services are designed with a commitment to never oversell resources — it’s a key factor that distinguishes us from our competitors,” Karim said. “Each VPS customer benefits from dedicated SSD storage, CPU cores, and RAM. We also provide DDoS protection as a standard feature.”
I think I can speak for most of us when I say overselling sucks. I’ll never forget my first experience buying a car — the salesman was so pushy and insisted on adding this, that, and a third thing despite my budget that I ended up walking out while he went to the bathroom.
I know: It wasn’t very mature, but it was definitely a little demure.
But that’s what I like about Value Hosted. You get that much-needed SSD storage — which is up to 10x faster than its traditional HDD counterpart — and DDoS protection against some of the most common types of cyberattacks in the world.
It’s not a big ask, but some hosting providers don’t even provide the bare minimum. Karim said Value Hosted, on the other hand, is committed to never overselling resources, which means you get what you pay for and nothing less.
Decentralize, Automate, and Thrive
Karim shared that Value Hosted is focusing on decentralized hosting technologies. This may sound like a lot of tech jargon that is hard to wrap your head around — and I hear you, so let’s break that down.
Traditionally, web hosting providers run on centralized servers, which means each customer’s website is hosted on a single server or a group of servers owned by the provider. It’s kind of like renting an apartment in a building where the hosting company acts like the landlord and maintenance person.
Decentralized hosting, on the other hand, spreads its customers’ websites across several different servers in different locations. Back to the apartment analogy, it’s like having your belongings stored in various rooms across different houses in a neighborhood.
This method may seem counterintuitive, but it’s a crucial way to guarantee security and uptime. If one house is robbed, for example, you know your belongings at the other houses are still safe.
Karim also mentioned some new tools the team is exploring, including “AI tools to automate support responses and further enhance the user experience.”
Speaking of user experience, Web 3.0 comes to mind for Karim.
“As Web 3.0 continues to develop, we see significant potential and are closely monitoring its progress,” Karim added.
OK, nerd out with me for a second because Web 3.0 is pretty cool. It’s a concept for a new evolution of the World Wide Web, where decentralization is critical.
A decentralized internet makes it easier for users to fight against internet control and censorship. Instead of letting the few mega giants that currently control Web 2.0, Web 3.0’s goal is to let users take charge by letting them manage parts of the internet themselves.
It’s basically a giant stance against those Big Brother companies, like Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon.
