MSP360 Offers Hosting Providers and MSPs Affordable Backup and Cloud Solutions that Increase Value for Their Customers

Msp360 Helps Msps Maintain Servers

TL; DR: MSP360 is an all-in-one platform for hosting providers and managed service providers (MSPs) that includes online backups, remote desktop tools, and file management solutions. The platform, which integrates with more than 20 cloud-hosted storage providers, serves over 129,000 small business and home users, and half a million endpoints. MSP360 also plans to be the first to offer a fully integrated backup remote desktop and remote monitoring and management (RMM) solution in early 2021.

DTC is a Maryland-based managed service provider (MSP) that offers a wide range of IT solutions to hundreds of clients. The company manages more than 500 servers and backs up 400 terabytes of data. It needed a secure, powerful, and cost-effective solution to help run its business smoothly.

All of DTC’s clients are in the medical and dental industries, which means data security is a top priority. Its clients need the solution to provide master-password-based access control, preferably with an image-based backup option, to streamline recovery operations for large amounts of data and to maintain HIPAA compliance.

DTC chose to partner with MSP360 for its HIPAA compliance, ease of use, and competitive price point. And MSP360 offers DTC a central, web-based interface that helps it stay on top of security issues that could threaten sensitive personal data. The result was that DTC bolstered its HIPAA compliance, increased profit margins, and eliminated costly backup problems it had experienced before.

“MSP360 is easy to use, scalable, and we’re five times cheaper than our competitors, on average,” said Brian Helwig, MSP360 CEO. “That difference is all margin for these small businesses. And as they grow, we grow.”

The MSP360 agent runs on a wide variety of machines, including mobile devices and tablets. In the past, an MSP team member may have had to drop everything to rush to a desktop or laptop to monitor their servers, identify a bug, or backup and reboot. Now, MSP360 clients can resolve issues from their iPhone or iPad.

“We had an MSP worker who received a call while he was out on the lake fishing. With any other product, he would have had to go back onshore, fire up the laptop, and work through it,” Brian said. “But instead, he grabbed his iPad while he was on the boat, did a little drag and drop, kicked off the restore, and went and did the backup again.”

MSP360 works with more than 10,000 MSPs and over half a million endpoints. Since 2011, it has expanded on its backup service and now offers everything an MSP needs to run a successful operation.

Scalable Services that Go Beyond Backups

When MSP360 launched as CloudBerry Lab in 2011, it was a simple and intuitive backup service. Over the last few years, MSP360 has been adding to its software suite, which now includes a comprehensive set of tools MSPs need to run a successful business.

“We continue to offer and improve upon what MSPs need to start, grow, and thrive. We’re starting to see a lot more small MSP guys starting on their own,” Brian said, “They’re looking for a solid toolset that they can get off the ground that’s going to be profitable.”

Those clients are also looking for solutions to help them pivot to new work environments during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The shift to home, for us, was seamless. We were already a product that didn’t rely on centralized, traditional, in-house equipment to access a centralized storage platform the way that traditional backups did.”

MSP360’s robust backup and restore capabilities can help providers get their clients back to business quickly.

MSP360 saw a significant opportunity to help at the beginning of the pandemic when companies began transitioning to work-from-home setups. Many hosting providers and IT teams were scrambling to find a solution for managing their servers from a distance.

“People were taking their desktops home and plugging them in, and IT teams were going ‘What are we going to do?’ Well, you partner with MSP360, deploy the agent, and all of a sudden, you’re now securely connecting to a cloud public storage provider,” Brian said. “And all of your server endpoints, which are spread out, can now be stored locally.”

MSP360 has experienced rapid growth in 2020 thanks to its vital service offerings. The company now serves more than 129,000 small business and home users. That’s because it helps the world become more digitally connected and boosts collaboration in IT departments.

Simplicity and Affordability Help Boost Profit

One of MSP360’s primary differentiators is its ease of use. Tech companies often pride themselves on how complex their products are, but they may forget that a solution that is difficult to use can put up barriers to entry.

“When I was considering joining the team, any product-based CEO is going to want to believe in the product that they’re championing and growing,” Brian said. “I signed up, I downloaded the agent, and I started backing up my local machines. I backed up my wife’s machine. I have two boys; I backed up their machines. It’s really easy to use. It just works. I didn’t have to call tech support.”

Brian even used MSP360 to troubleshoot a problem on his son’s laptop while he was traveling.

“He was having some problems with his laptop, so I used our Remote Desktop product to connect. I didn’t have to download a different product. I turned it on, it was generally intuitive, easy to use, and it wasn’t hard to start and get a backup,” Brian said.

When the product team gets disconnected from the sales and customer success teams, products often become clunky and complicated. MSP360 continues to test its products with sales and customer-facing teams to ensure that they aren’t just for developers. MSP360’s ease of use allows hosting providers and MSPs to focus on server problems that require their expertise instead of learning yet another piece of software.

MSP360: Expanding into RMM and Cloud Storage

MSP360 has quickly expanded its product offerings so hosting providers and MSPs don’t need to look elsewhere to fill out their toolkit. One of its most recent additions is a remote monitoring and management solution (RMM) that will be free of charge for the first six months after its release.

“The RMM is a gamechanger for us as an organization,” Brian said. “It rounds out what the 360 in MSP360 is all about. When it went live a year and a half ago, people tried to figure out why we weren’t Backup360. And now when they see the RMM, they see that they have a full suite of tools.”

Alongside its growing product line, MSP360 plans to streamline integrations with its cloud-hosted storage partners. Recently MSP360 teamed up with Wasabi to simplify backups so users no longer had to find storage elsewhere.

“Our partnership with Wasabi is through unified billing, which means that you get everything under one bill,” Brian said. “So it’s MSP360 storage powered by Wasabi. If you want to pick and choose your storage, you can, or if you want the integrated one, you can as well. There’s no price difference. They’re both $5.99 a terabyte.”

MSP360 offers everything hosting providers and MSPs need to run profitable businesses. That means MSPs no longer need to hunt for the right software solution for their company; it’s all on the MSP360 platform with tools for backup and remote access as well as scalable storage solutions.
