Wix expanded its developer capabilities with the launch of the Wix Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, which lets developers integrate their favorite LLMs directly into the Wix ecosystem.

MCP servers act as secure gateways between LLMs and platforms like Wix. The integration essentially turns Wix into a dual environment for the front end and backend.

With this, developers can visually build the UI or write code to create websites and web apps with AI assistance. It also works with popular IDEs, so it doesn’t require manual setup.

With a small suite of generative tools already in its front end, Wix joins several other names that are embracing AI-native, headless development stacks:

CTO Yaniv Even-Haim said that Wix released its own MCP Server to attract more developers without leaving its core users behind.

“As we step into the world of LLM-powered code generation, the quality and completeness of our APIs become one of our most important assets,” Even-Haim added.

He added that this is only the beginning: Wix plans to open up more APIs as part of a bigger push to support developers in the current wave of AI.

Coding with AI

LLM-powered code generation, or “vibe coding,” is climbing the ranks of developer must-haves because it lets users create or modify code with natural language processing.

In fact, about 45% of developers use AI-assisted coding tools every day, says a GitHub Developer Survey.

Still, some experts recommend a dose of caution.

“Even the best models can still be prone to hallucinations and errors,” Josh Jacobson, from cybersecurity platform HackerOne, said to HostingAdvice.

The answer? Just do your due diligence, said Manish Kapur, Sr. Director of Product & Solutions at Sonar.

“AI-generated code should always be validated for quality, security, and maintainability… Without a strong foundation in coding basics, it can lead to bugs, vulnerabilities, and unmaintainable code.”

As long as you have that foundation in place, you’re setting yourself up for success.

The Bottom Line

There’s always a lesson to be learned.

Hosting providers should take note: The launch of Wix’s MCP Server proves we’re moving in the industrywide shift toward more accessible, AI-powered development.

Platforms are going to be asked to move fast to support both low-code users and pro devs in a single environment — if they haven’t already.
