TL; DR: A self-professed accelerator of the Bare-Metal Revolution, Cherry Servers has been delivering highly customizable dedicated servers to businesses worldwide for more than 15 years. There are a number of differentiators that separate Cherry Servers from the competition — such as performance and innovative approaches to infrastructure management. But, as CEO Arturas Lazejevas told us, it’s the company’s dedication to providing speedy, hands-on, and effective customer service that has made Cherry Servers and the businesses it serves so successful.

Founded more than 15 years ago, Cherry Servers has long been known for providing high-performing IT infrastructure to businesses around the globe. And, today, the company continues to answer the demands of customers with an array of specialized needs.

With the popularity of wearable tech chatbots, and smart home devices, such as Amazon Alexa, verbal AI is quickly permeating our everyday lives. As a result, speech technology-focused companies, such as Verbio, are seeing a sharp increase in IT infrastructure demands and are turning to Cherry Servers for solutions.

Powered by a creative team of top scientists and engineers, Verbio seeks to enhance the conversational experience between human and machine. Using a variety of deep learning methodologies, Verbio’s technology stack is capable of much more than simply recognizing words and phrases — it can sense conversational pointers, understand intent, and even identify users based on voice biometrics and speech patterns. In addition, its text-to-speech module uses enhanced inflection and expressivity to deliver a more human-like readout than traditional software of its kind. Due to the sheer amount of data being stored on its platform, Verbio requires robust dedicated infrastructure. And the company found it with the bare-metal solutions delivered by Cherry Servers.

The Cherry Servers team takes pride in its commitment to providing top-tier support and customer service.

By partnering with Cherry Servers, Verbio can customize and scale according to need, leading to massive cost savings. As with Verbio, companies worldwide rely on Cherry Servers to drive their applications, which range from hotel booking services to virtual economy simulators.

Cherry Servers customers hail from an array of industries, but they’re all drawn to the company’s customer-focused approach, complete with customizable dedicated servers and top-tier support.

“About 10 years ago, we started with shared hosting, then expanded into virtual hosting and virtual private servers,” said CEO Arturas Lazejevas. “We then focused on dedicated hosting.”

Founded in 2001 With an Aim to Improve Approaches to Support

By 2001, several major hosting companies had arrived on the scene, including Cirrus and Xoom. However, the majority of services at the time consisted of shared hosting packages run on low- to mid-grade servers.

While fine for some personal users and even some small businesses, the power of shared hosting was greatly overshadowed by the capabilities of dedicated hosting. The rarity of dedicated servers at the time compounded the already existing dilemma many site owners faced in finding that perfect balance between price, speed, reliability, and good customer support.

CEO Arturas Lazejevas said Cherry Servers has been delivering high-performing IT infrastructure for 15-plus years.

Luckily, Cherry Servers hit the scene, initially offering a variety of services, including web design.

“The missing button was the customer experience,” Arturas said. “When we started in 2001, it was like the Dark Ages of the internet space.”

After building numerous sites for clients, the crew realized they could better serve them by providing hosting as well. In time, hosting would become the company’s main focus. And, today, Cherry Servers still retains a large portion of its original customer base.

Focusing on Dedicated Servers as a More Customer-Centric Model

Cherry Servers’s shift toward hosting was only the beginning of its journey to improve the customer experience. Realizing the value of dedicated servers, Cherry Servers would eventually move away from the shared space, seeing it as less suitable for servicing customers.

“The customer experience was especially lacking in the industry 10 to 15 years ago, and we wanted to make it so that every customer could have an account manager,” Arturas said.

By offering exclusively dedicated servers with account management, Cherry Servers became better equipped to handle support issues, as well as build personal relationships with clients.

The goal at Cherry Servers is to give a wider range of businesses access to the benefits of dedicated hosting solutions.

As a result, dedicated servers quickly became the company’s fastest-growing product offering. Not only was it more profitable and ideal for enhancing the user experience, but focusing on a smaller, more hands-on user base would also help further streamline IT processes for customers.

“We understood at that time that we could not provide the level of customer service we would have liked to 10,000 customers as easily as we could to 1,000,” Arturas said.

Highly Customizable Infrastructure Built to Suit Every Need

To further create a more personalized user experience, Cherry Servers allows clients to fully customize their product, choosing options based on size, speed, and other attributes. This pricing model allows customers to save money, as they need only pay for the features they want.

“As of now, our custom servers are very attractive for customers,” Arturas said. “We’ve got a very big selection of servers, and, since we’ve built them ourselves and have our own datacenters, we can provide custom solutions like that.”

Building your own custom server with Cherry Savers begins with selecting an existing server type that corresponds with your RAM, storage, price, CPU, and performance ratio limitations. Then, individual hardware components can be modified in a number of ways, including adding additional RAM, GPU cards, and storage drives.

Cherry Servers makes it simple for businesses to implement fully customizable dedicated servers into IT strategies.

Disks are available as SSD or HDD, and can be configured for RAID. For network configuration, users can purchase additional traffic, IP addresses, and bandwidth. In addition, multiple OS options are available including Ubuntu, Windows, and CentOS.

Not only does Cherry Servers provide impressive variety, but also outstanding quality. Arturas told us customers can get exactly what they need at a price that fits their budgets without having to mess with the technical hardware aspects. When issues do arise, customer support is there to help, as well as in-house staff members who provide hands-on hardware troubleshooting.

“We’ve got system engineers in-house, as well as testers and a laboratory for testing the hardware that we build,” Arturas said.

Cherry Servers’ impressive range of customization options remains one of its biggest attractors, distinguishing the company as highly flexible and suitable for a wide range of customer types.

Up Next for Cherry Servers: Pushing for Greater IT Innovation

Since its inception, Cherry Servers has been an innovative company, able to quickly spot growth opportunities and embrace new technologies. What began with site building and web development soon blossomed into a unique hosting experience, and the company still has plenty of room to innovate and grow alongside its customers.

“We are building our own new bare-metal cloud platform,” Arturas said.

Bare-metal servers allow for operations to be carried out in the absence of a true host operating system. According to Arturas, Cherry Servers is also planning a yet-to-be-announced release for later in 2018.

In addition to improving the hosting experience, Cherry Servers is also dedicated to bringing fresh ideas into the IT industry, and this includes a push to adopt safer and more secure technologies. To do so, Cherry Servers partners with several European Union Institutions, including Norway Grants and Regio Invest LT+. This has resulted in the implementation of green technology into its datacenters as well as ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC20000-1 standards, which allow for more secure data management.

With clients in over 170 countries, Cherry Servers is able to provision more than 2,700 servers annually with an average setup time of just 25 minutes each. Combining a need-based pricing model with lightning-fast support and infrastructure, it’s no wonder why Cherry Servers has amassed hundreds of positive customer testimonials.
