Northern Data Group, a German infrastructure provider, announced a partnership with global cloud/network provider Gcore to improve AI workload performance with low-latency networks.

Combining Northern Data’s HPC solutions and liquid-cooled GPUs with Gcore’s Everywhere Inference software, they’ve launched the Intelligence Delivery Network (IDN).

The IDN is a global AI network that encompasses 180 locations across more than 14,000 peering partners, all while boasting a 200+ Tbps capacity.

“Partnering with Northern Data will provide Gcore and our enterprise customers access to one of the largest liquid-cooled GPU clusters and significant data center capacity worldwide,” said Andre Reitenbach, the CEO of Gcore.

The goal here is to reduce latency. By processing AI workloads closer to the data source (at edge locations), the IDN will reduce latency — even for heavy AI workloads.

The IDN will be helpful in industries that rely on quick, reliable predictions from AI inference, such as automotive, healthcare, finance, and retail.

“This is an inflection point where the use of AI solutions is evolving rapidly, and we believe that this partnership will form a key part of the next phase of AI adoption,” said Aroosh Thillainathan, the Founder and CEO of Northern Data Group.

Perfect Timing for Network Providers

AI inferencing — where trained models predict outcomes based on new data — is, without question, the next step of generative AI.

Because the AI inferencing server market is expected to grow to $133.2 billion by 2034, the demand for powerful workloads, including stronger GPUs and faster networks, is rising fast.

The global AI inference server market is projected to grow rapidly over the next decade thanks to the increasing demand for HPC in AI applications.

But networks are struggling to keep up with the demand, which means the IDN may be here at the perfect time.

It could be among the first examples of AI-as-a-service (AIaas) and could quickly become a key feature in cloud and hosting stacks.

AIaas allows for the delivery of AI tools, algorithms, and capabilities — all without needing to build or maintain their own infrastructure.

It also opens up the option for companies of all sizes to access the same powerful AI technology without worrying about significant upfront costs or deep technical knowledge.

Northern Data Group and Gcore customers can access through an online platform that is simple to use. With just a few clicks, they can deploy and start using the AI tools they need right away.

More information can be found on the official Northern Data Group website.
